Our Top Three Favorite 2021 Trends!

Updated: Sep 25

As we round out the 2021 year, some trends have made more of an impact than others. Home trends last longer than fashion trends and tend to stick around for 5-10 years. On our next blog, we will explore some of the trends in 2021 that will be considered "dated" in 2022 but first, let's explore what we found to be the best trends in 2021. Some of our go-to design trends we have been utilizing this year are cane furniture, neutral color schemes and abstract art.

Cane Furniture:

One of our favorite current design trends has to be cane furniture! Cane and rattan elements have been used in furniture for many years however, it has taken form in various new ways as of late. Most recently it has made an appearance in items such as case goods, accent seating, and even accessories! We love using this trend to bring in an added layer of natural texture to any space.

Neutral Color Schemes:

Neutral has been one of our top color palettes (If you can consider it a color, that is!) This trend has become increasingly popular for its light and airy feel, allowing spaces to seem larger than they actually are! We love designing spaces with various neutral colors, which allows each piece of furniture, wall decor or accessory to play its own part in the design while seemingly feeling cohesive and relaxed.

Abstract Art:

Wall art can be composed of so many different styles, shapes, and sizes. We generally gravitate towards abstract pieces now more than ever. At Smith Interior Design we feel abstract art does not need to be explained - it just simply is. Oftentimes abstract art can bring a sense of elegance and movement to a space, creating a sense of balance in the room that is showcased in.

What are some current design trends you would like to incorporate into your home?
